I had a really great experience working with my doula, Jenn. From the beginning she was calm, reassuring, and just easy to be around, which made a big difference going into labor.
My birth and overall labor actually went pretty quickly, and I honestly give Jenn a lot of credit for that. She really helped me labor down and guided me through positions and breathing in a way that kept things moving without feeling overwhelming.
During labor, she was such a solid support. She helped me understand what was going on and spoke up when I needed it, but never in a pushy way. It felt like she was fully in my corner the whole time. She was also a great support for my husband, which I really appreciated, he felt more confident and involved instead of overwhelmed.
One thing that meant a lot to me was how attentive she was to the little things. She even asked me right before I started pushing if I wanted to do my makeup because I had mentioned that beforehand, which was honestly so thoughtful (I was ready to meet my baby so I said no lol). She also took photos for us, and they turned out so great. I’m really grateful to have those moments captured.
Overall, having Jenn there made my experience so much better. I felt supported, more in control, and just less stressed through the whole process. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone considering a doula.
