Having Chris as my doula was such an incredible experience - made even more special because she was like a second mom to me while I was growing up.
From our very first meeting, she made me feel supported through what felt like a new and intimidating journey as a first-time mom. She helped guide me through questions I didn’t even know to ask about birth, and walked both my partner and me through everything we needed to know to prepare for our baby girl’s arrival. Our prenatal meeting was so informative, especially when it came to decisions that might come up during labor and delivery. She even explained the different medications that could be offered and what they were used for, which helped me create a birth plan I felt confident in.
In the hours leading up to labor, Chris was on standby. By the time I called her at 2:30 a.m., she was already on her way to meet us at the hospital. From the moment she arrived, I felt completely cared for, which gave me the space to focus on bringing my baby into the world. Chris supported me through 36 hours of labor - encouraging position changes every few contractions, keeping my energy up with snacks and drinks, creating a calming atmosphere with music, lights, and essential oils, and constantly cheering me on in a way that made me feel powerful and capable.
The most impactful part of my birth experience was the teamwork between Chris, my partner, and me. We each found our role in the room, which gave both my partner and me the confidence and support we needed for the beautiful birth experience we had hoped for. Because of Chris’s genuine love for caring for mothers and birthing people, I will forever look back on my daughter’s birthday as one of the best experiences of my life!
