During our prenatal conversations, Lucinda thoughtfully walked me through the stages of labor and the medications that might be offered, which made a huge difference in helping me feel prepared. In an unexpected twist, my water broke the day we were supposed to meet, and I went into preterm labor! Lucinda came straight to the hospital and stepped in seamlessly, already aligned with my goals of delaying the epidural and using grounding techniques.
In the hospital, she empowered me to make informed decisions, shared grounding mantras to calm me down, and introduced positioning techniques (even bringing helpful “props”) to manage discomfort. She included my husband in the process, making the experience feel more connected and even joyful! One of my nurses commented on how exceptional Lucinda was—specifically her ability to collaborate with, rather than challenge, the hospital team while still advocating for me and helping me make informed decisions. Multiple nurses remarked on her professionalism, presence, and collaborative spirit—and were shocked to learn I was her first client. Overall, Lucinda is a rare combination of calming presence, knowledgeable guide, and strong yet respectful advocate. I am so grateful she was part of my birth experience and will definitely be choosing her again as my birth doula in the future!
