Where do I even begin? We feel so incredibly lucky to have has Fiona as part of our birthing team. She is not only a truly incredible doula but an overall wonderful human being and beautiful soul too. This was my first pregnancy and I had hoped to be able to labor unmedicated. Fiona was fully supportive of my birth preferences from the beginning. She provided me with excellent resources to prepare for the experience and checked in on me regularly in the months leading up to my due date to make sure I was taking care of myself and gently offer much appreciated advice as I navigated the last months/weeks of my pregnancy. My labor ended up being complicated by a severe case of preeclamsia, which meant that I had to be induced and remian in bed the entire time. My hopes of being able to move/walk around as a form of pain managment were out the window but that didn't stop Fiona from working her magic. She is trained in using a rebozo and used it throughout labor. She expertly guided my hudsband while they moved me into various positions, applied counter pressure, massage etc for over 12 hours. Eventually I made the decision to get an epidural but I know I would not have made it all the way to active labor unmedicated without her help. Beyond all of the incrdible physical work she does, Fiona's emotional support and advocacy throughout labor meant everything to us. She is such a kind, gentle and caring soul. Even though my birth experience looked very different than what I had pictured, Fiona's presence helped ensure that I still felt incredibly empowered by all of it. There is no one I would have rather had in the room with us and I will forever feel connected to her in the most special way. I could not recommend her enough to other expecting parents.
