From our first Zoom chat, I felt so calmed and reassured by Ashleigh's energy. She's both professional and personable with a lovely way of making you feel respected, heard, valued, while also asking the right questions and providing info that helps you make informed decisions. She always checks in, follows up, and listens and responds without judgement - just her expertise and experiences - so you never feel like there is a "wrong way" to how you are approaching your birth (which can seem rare these days).
As a lot of births go, ours did not go according to what we had hoped and we were unable to achieve the unmedicated birth we had envisioned. I was so grateful for Ashleigh's presence as she was a rock of support for both me and my partner as we navigated these challenges. We would have felt very alone without her. She helped me find so many coping methods for managing the pain, talked us through the processes and options for every thing that was happening, and I absolutely credit her positioning me in different ways that finally successfully moved the baby down. Our OB was taking a very conservative approach + working through the nursing staff virtually until it was time, so it was incredibly helpful to have Ashleigh there helping to translate and vouch for our preferences with the on call staff, as well as provide a familiar face in what can be a scary setting. Our hospital room also felt like a spa with her diffuser, light projector, music!
We had an amazing experience with Ashleigh and are so grateful for her craft. Please definitely consider hiring her for your doula!
