I chose Mia as my birth doula for my first baby because I really wanted to try for an unmedicated birth, but I was scared to go through it without support. From our very first meeting, Mia put both me and my husband completely at ease. She shared so many practical tips, and her home visits with hands on labor practice made us feel much more prepared, both mentally and physically.
Three days before my due date, my contractions hit. About 8 hours into labor, when the contractions became too intense for me to talk through, we called Mia. She arrived at 3am calm, steady, and exactly what we needed. We labored at home trying different positions until the urge to push took over, then headed to the hospital around 4am. Mia never left my side. She gave me hip squeezes through every contraction, used a TENS unit to help distract me from the pain, and guided my breathing when I felt like I was losing control. After 3 hours of pushing, our baby boy arrived safe and healthy.
What meant even more was how Mia continued to care for us after the birth - staying until we were settled in recovery, checking in after we got home, and helping me through those challenging first days with breastfeeding. I truly couldn’t have had such a positive and empowering birth experience without Mia. I’m so grateful for her support!
