Working with Nicole was hands down the best decision my husband and I made in regards to our birth experience. From our very first meeting she helped us to feel prepared as first time parents, and leading up to the birth she was always available to answer questions, provide physical and emotion support, and help us feel cared for. She also assisted in preparing a birth plan and informing us of the various pieces involved in that. Where she truly brought a wealth of knowledge, and a calm, confidence presence, was in the labor process itself. During early labor she was in constant communication with us and met us at the hospital as soon as we were headed there. She was continually present, working through every contraction with us, and she stayed not only until our daughter was born, but also came to the recovery room and assisted in the first successful breastfeeding session.
I cannot recommend hiring a doula enough. Nicole was incredible and our experience would not have been the same without her. When things did not go according to plan (as is common with birth, and life in general), having her there to offer encouragement, support my husband and I, and advocate for us with the staff was key. She played a pivotal role in helping us stay flexible and grounded when things did not go our way, and reminded us of the end goal (a healthy baby) in the times where emotions ran high and decisions had to be made. After birth, she continued to check in with us throughout the first few weeks postpartum, gicing us tips on adjusting to our new normal, helping with recovery and breastfeeding, and even did another in-person visit following our transition from hospital care to settling in at home.
We are so grateful for Nicole and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for support and genuine empowerment throughout their journey. By the end of it, she truly felt like family, and we will definitely be using her again!
