My husband and I are very happy that we hired Jill during our first pregnancy. I was the kind of pregnant woman who spent so much time preparing for this journey, researching, planning, etc. and yet I still felt I needed a lot of support. It feels impossible to know it all, especially with your first baby, and Jill so wonderfully filled in all the gaps in our knowledge. We took the childbirth class, which we loved and found very informative, and enjoyed our home visits with Jill as well. It’s a bit hard to explain, but I didn’t feel like I NEEDED Jill’s help, I just wanted it. I wanted an extra person on my team, I wanted more support and I’m glad I had it. This is all just scary, and I felt much less scared knowing I could lean on Jill. My hospital birth was FAST, but even then, Jill swept in just when we needed her and I felt such a sense of calm when she did. And I really appreciated her help after the birthing process was over, as most of the focus turned to my baby. It was nice having her focus on me, that brought me calm. I would definitely recommend hiring a doula for your first baby, if you can afford it, and Jill should be at the top of your list if you do.
