I can truly say that Lori helped pave the path for me to be a warrior in laboring & breastfeeding! As a first time mother & someone that hadn't been around babies often, I had no idea what to expect. I had zero knowledge in laboring or breastfeeding. The willpower was there for me & Lori helped to educate me in all aspects of motherhood. She also educated my husband in all the ways that he could support me throughout pregnancy, labor, and in the new phase of our life with a newborn. With her having 7 children of her own, I knew that I couldn't have found a better mentor. From the beginning, when I first found out I was pregnant, we jumped full force into learning. She provided my husband & I with multiple education sources, such as books from her own library, DVD's, youtube resources, local classes, resources for after baby was born, etc. She did regular check-ins, in which we talked about labor plans, did demonstrations on how my husband could support me physically during pregnancy & labor (ie. belly lifts, hip squeezes) & emotionally (ie. motivational phrases), life after birth, etc. She took me through an entire breastfeeding class where we watched a video & practiced different positions of breastfeeding with a babydoll. We also went over milk production & different things that I could try to increase supply in the event that my production was low, things I could do to fix a clogged milk duct, cracked nipples, & so on. I feel like because of her, I was able to successfully breastfeed my special needs daughter for 2 years, with minimal setbacks. I also feel like because of her, more than half of my pain was taken away during labor, no exaggeration! It was just the two of us in the beginning of my labor, & she was the calming spirit that I needed to set the tone of my entire process. She prayed with me & over me. She reminded me of how able I was. I felt God's presence throughout the entirety!
