We recently moved to Seattle and have little family that can help with becoming parents. We were going this alone until we met Liza. Her monumental impact was threefold. Liza helped us by:
1. Reducing anxiety: Before, during, and after labor we were both hypervigilant. Labor had serious medical events. After the baby was out it was impossible to cool down, everything seemed like a crisis. Liza was there to help us understand what to pay attention to and what to let go of. She was the interface between us and the hospital team, helping us slow the roll in ways we would not have done ourselves.
2. Increasing knowledege: So many simple tips and skills that were lifesavers. Burping techniques, belly wraps, proper carrier set up, feeding postures - list goes on.
3. Providing emotional support: We would have been alone in that birthing room. There is only so much support I can give my wife, not being a woman or ever having been around a birth. Looking at the pictures I have of Liza massaging my wifes back mid contraction and talking her through it still makes me weep. Even if you have family, Liza fills a niche they cannot. She is unbiased, a rare mix of cool nerves and warm empathy.
I offer my unqualified recommendation.
