Pregnancy:
Dana and I texted almost on a daily basis. She was very supportive during pregnancy related issues and personal issues. She always had advice to give when I mentioned anything going wrong when it came to my pregnancy. Anytime I needed to go to L&D Dana was always ready to come.
Labor:
Dana was my biggest supporter. She was familiar with my birthing plan and stuck to it unless I wanted a change in the moment. She helped keep me mobile, if I needed a break she was on board. As baby made her arrival my partner was in the restroom vomiting and Dana was right there by my side. She advocated for me, held my hand the entire time, took pictures, and made sure the staff were sticking to my birthing plan. I couldn’t imagine anyone I know doing what she did to support me how she did. After delivery Dana stayed with me for a few hours to make sure baby and I were both settled and okay.
Post partum:
I really appreciate how much Dana supported me post partum. She texted me to check my mood, would come support me by providing massages, stretches, oils, herbs, and relaxation. From not having a doula in my previous pregnancies to this time having one, I really see the importance in having a doula and taking time to recover and for taking time yourself. Dana was always willing to look after and take care of my baby so that way I would have that moment to take care of myself.
Dana as a person:
Dana is so caring, supportive, easy going, patient and flexible. If I didn’t explain myself well or what I was asking she asked for clarity to make sure we were on the same page about what would happen next. Even when it came to post partum visits, I had several appointments and she was always willing to figure out another day that worked for me. She was always on time and well prepared.
