I cannot recommend Called to Birth Doulas enough! This was my first pregnancy and upon meeting with Susie for the first time I knew I wanted her to be the one to support me through it! We attended Riva’s birth prep course around 5-6 months and felt much better prepared leaving there. The class gave my husband and I things to consider, review, and practice at home which was instrumental in me feeling more at ease with what was to come.
Susie has such a steady and calming presence. When my baby was breech Susie walked with us every step of the way on trying to flip her, including attending an ECV, and keeping me focused and as relaxed as I could be through the procedure. When my birth plan had to pivot she was there, and ready for the challenge of helping me mentally prepare.
She had an unwavering commitment to proceed forward with the choices we wanted, and never pushed any of her personal views on us. She is incredibly experienced and I could not imagine having gone through this experience without her.
The day I was released to go home after my c-section Susie arranged for Riva to meet me for a lactation consultation. I had no idea at the time how important that session would be. Riva got me started on the right foot and I will forever be grateful for that! I know for certain had she not been there that day I would have struggled much more with breastfeeding and likely would have had much more nipple damage then I ever did. And to get a rundown on all things pumping was super helpful as well to help me consider when and how I wanted to proceed.
Thank you Susie and Riva, what a team! If we ever have another babe, I certainly wouldn’t think twice about working with these ladies again!
