Having Cass as our duola was the most valuable thing that we invested in for my pregnancy, labor, and birth. From our first consultation, we knew she would be a great fit because of her warmth and knowledge she brought to every detail.
As first time parents, there’s no way to fully be prepared for birth, but Cass was exceptional in getting us ready so that I felt confident in every decision point at the hospital.
Leading up to the birth, she brought over materials to inform and prepare us about early labor, transitioning to active labor, how the baby needs to move into position during labor, and how certain movements we could do at home in the last few weeks could help that. She was on call the last two weeks before I gave birth and responded quickly to all of my questions. I went in and out of early labor for a week and I think if we did not talk to Cass, we would’ve gone to the hospital early and possibly gotten into a situation where we forced the birth to happen before my body was ready.
When the day finally came, Cass was ready and meet us at the hospital as soon as we requested her. She led us through specific movements that helped the baby move in place and also help my contractions to continue at a good rhythm. Because she was there, I think the hospital staff felt more comfortable being hands off with us and only came in if the heartbeat monitor got disconnected or if I needed to be checked.
Cass provided so much guidance and reassurance literally every step of the way for 24 hours of labor. I am left with an overall positive birth experience and I’m confident that things would’ve gone very differently had she not been there.
