Katharine has our utmost respect, trust, and admiration as a doula and human being! We hired Katharine as a birth doula, with the goal of having an unmedicated hospital birth for our first baby if possible. From our first prenatal visit we felt total trust in Katharine's ability as a teacher, thought partner, and support person. She never entered a conversation with her own agenda, and was skilled at talking through different pathways to help us elicit our own thoughts and preferences about various scenarios (medication during labor, feeding, visitors after birth, etc). We ended up having a scheduled induction of labor, which often makes labor more intense. Katharine's calm, confident, and competent energy helped guide us through every phase of labor with our values and goals at the center of every conversation and intervention, and the result was an absolutely beautiful, otherworldly, empowered and informed labor and delivery experience. We especially appreciated how she was able to gently lead my husband through the process, empowering him to be involved and hands-on through every surge. We had a healthy smooth delivery and have a perfect baby girl :) At the postpartum visit, Katharine was super helpful in assisting with latch and being a sounding board to process everything. If it isn't obvious - Katharine is a very, very special person, and a very skilled doula. Hire her!
