Alaska was our saving grace during birth and throughout pregnancy. I had an unexpected medically necessary induction and because we had been working with Alaska before our birth, we felt extremely prepared to advocate for ourselves in early labor and avoid unnecessary interventions that the doctors definitely tried to do. I was trying to avoid an induction, so this was an extremely stressful situation and Alaska was in constant contact with us back and forth from the moment we found out, and was so helpful in making gametime decisions while we were in the hospital. We also felt confident when discussing birth preferences with my OBGYN before and once we got to the hospital. It was helpful to talk with her before and after my appointments to make sure we were covering what we needed to and I was fully informed. She checked in with us frequently leading up to the birth and a lot after as well, providing valuable resources and information to all our questions prenatal and postpartum.
Because it was an induction, the labor was long and emotional, and once she got the hospital it just felt like a weight was lifted off of us. I could not have labored without an epidural for as long as I just without her, and she was moving me around to make sure baby was in the optimal birthing position, and it worked extremely well! Baby came out fast and perfect!
Another huge plus was she took a bunch of pictures during labor that we get to cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much Alaska for the support. We hope we'll have the pleasure of booking her again!
