After my first birth was not the experience I hoped for, when I got pregnant with my second I knew I wanted to find a doula to help me achieve my pain med free birth. I reached out to several different doulas, but Kari was the only one who personally reached out within a day and scheduled a phone call with me. It was evident from our first conversation that she adores her job, and that she takes pride in supporting moms through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My pregnancy was challenging, but Kari provided support, knowledge, and resources throughout the pregnancy that truly carried me through. When she was at my house for my second visit and I had to go to the ER, she drove me, and then stayed with me in labor and delivery triage. When I needed to be induced for medical reasons, she supported me. When I wanted to continue my goal of not using pain meds, even though I was on pitocin for the induction, knowing she was in my corner and believed in me provided me with the confidence that I could do it. I’m someone who struggles to ask for help, to speak up for myself, and who doesn’t want to be an inconvenience. Kari gave me reassurance to trust myself, confidence that I can make decisions about my labor and birth, and the physical support to achieve this goal. After our baby was born, my husband said “what a difference between this labor and your labor with our daughter. I recommend a doula all day to everyone, correction I recommend Kari to everyone” and he's right. During a time that women feel like everyone’s focus is on the baby, Kari is looking out for you. It’s clear in everything that she does that she means it. She has a way of making you feel seen and heard. I’m so thankful you’ve chosen to share your gifts with moms. You’re such a blessing! I couldn’t have done it without you Kari!
