After switching doctors and feeling like I needed extra support/advocate for delivery, we went looking for a doula and found Shanita, which was hands down one of the best decisions we had made early on. From the very beginning, she brought a calm, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive presence that made us feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
Her background was invaluable. We faced a lot moments that required decisions during our long labor, she helped us understand our options clearly and thoughtfully. So much so, before Shanita had arrived and we had her on the phone, one of the nurses asked if we had a “doctor friend” because of the questions we were asking and all the information we knew. She provided evidence-based insight without ever being pushy, allowing us to feel informed and empowered in the choices we made. That level of guidance made a huge difference during an intense and emotional time.
Beyond her medical knowledge, she was also an amazing emotional support for both me and my husband throughout pregnancy and our long labor. She knew exactly when to step in with reassurance, support, or simply a calming presence. We truly felt like we had an advocate and a steady guide by our side. This continued through out recovery and weeks post partum. Especially through navigating breast feeding and latch issues, she truly knows it all.
We are so grateful for the way she showed up for our family and cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone looking for a doula who combines compassion, deep knowledge, and true dedication to the families she works with on the most important days of their lives!
