Nikki Reeves is simply extraordinary
Our daughter was born on February 25th, and the birth experience we had would not have been possible without Nikki Reeves. My wife was committed to an unmedicated birth, and Nikki made that not just possible but empowering.
Nikki prepared us well before we ever stepped foot in the hospital. She led us through four birth classes covering what to expect in the final weeks of pregnancy, how to prepare for labor, and techniques for managing contractions through pushing. She also helped us build a birth plan that reflected my wife's goals and felt genuinely achievable.
When the moment came, Nikki was exactly who we needed. My wife's water broke around midnight, and within 30 minutes the contractions were intense enough that a nurse told me, "You should call your doula now." Nikki arrived shortly after and the energy in the room shifted immediately. When my wife said she wanted an epidural, Nikki calmly responded, "That's okay, but first let's try another position." That was the turning point. She helped my wife find a position that worked, guided her through the rhythm of the contractions, and continuously pulled new tools out of her bag: scents, combs, techniques, whatever the moment called for.
Eight hours of contractions. Three and a half hours of labor. Nikki was there for all of it. She helped find more effective pushing techniques, captured photos, and afterward helped us process the experience and transition to recovery.
As the partner, Nikki didn't just support my wife. She enabled me to support my wife through a 12+ hour labor.
The next day in recovery, a labor nurse said unprompted: "You guys had an incredible doula. She was one of the best I've ever seen." That says it all.
If you're considering a doula, especially for an unmedicated birth, Nikki Reeves is the one.
