We’re so grateful we had Tanya as our birth doula. This was our first baby, and we truly didn’t know what to expect. Tanya met with us a few times before the birth and helped us feel prepared for what labor might look like. She helped us create a birth plan for our OBGYN and explained the different techniques and options doctors may use during labor. That knowledge helped us feel much more confident and calm going into the experience.
My labor turned out to be quite challenging. My water broke when I was only about 2 cm dilated, and the contractions became very intense right away. Tanya came quickly when we needed her and supported me through a very difficult stage of labor. She helped me move through different positions, guided me through the contractions, and helped us communicate with the doctors. With her steady support and encouragement, I was able to progress to around 7–8 cm.
What meant even more to us is that Tanya’s support didn’t end once the baby was born. She continued to check in during the postpartum period and answered many of my questions about recovery and life with a newborn. One evening when our baby had a long witching hour, we reached out to her late at night and she kindly shared suggestions that helped us calm him and get some much-needed rest.
Having Tanya by our side made such a difference. As first-time parents, we felt supported, cared for, and never alone in the process. We’re incredibly thankful we had her with us during such an important moment in our lives.
