Having Barbie as my doula was empowering and let me be confident going into my birthing time. I was still dealing with trauma from my first child’s birth, and a team of doctors pushing hard to schedule early induction or a cesarean section despite my healthy pregnancy and normal weight gain, fundal height, and ultrasounds. Barbie gave me tools to try natural induction methods for an on time labor. I had a very precipitous labor and my baby was born minutes after arriving at the hospital. When I saw Barbie at the hospital entrance, I felt a sense of calm and support. I knew that everything was going to be fine, even if my baby was born right then and there. Minutes later I gave birth to my perfect healthy baby. Barbie continued to support me with nourishment, photos with our new family member, and lactation tips to help with my baby’s first feeding. I had a perfect birth and having Barbie with us helped give me the confidence and positivity I needed to move past my previous birth trauma and believe that a safe and natural birth was possible.
