I cannot think of a better person to partner with on the magical journey of birth! Although Jessamyn has immense knowledge of birthing, she always started and redirected conversations back to what WE want and listened with care and consideration. We had several leadup sessions where Jessamyn helped us create a birth story for ourselves and a birth plan for hospital staff. We felt so confident and empowered going into our birthing experience.
Like many, we were shaken and surprised when the day finally came (2 weeks early!), Jessamyn jumped right on the rollercoaster with us. There were changes and complications and hardships, and when things hit me hardest, I would look to Jessamyn, who would give me a nod of confidence to remind me that I've got this and that everything is going as it should. Her guidance really carried me through, and when it was time to push to the finish line, she helped me collect my energy and confidence and joy so that I could meet my little one!
One of our labor & delivery nurses commented on how impressed she was with Jessamyn, noting that she was clearly giving us confidence and power and not taking it upon herself to intervene on our behalf.
Without Jessamyn, I don't think I could have had the birthing experience I wanted. I think I may have been pressured to do things in ways that didn't feel right to me, and I can't imagine not having the memory of a perfect (and perfectly imperfect) birth thanks to Jessamyn. She is made for this work, for supporting birthing people, birthing partners, and babies in these precious moments.
