I wasn’t able to have Bri physically present for my home birth, but accessing her wisdom and knowledge while preparing for birth was invaluable. It was as though her calm words and guidance were right there with me throughout my labor.
Bri completely transformed how I approached my birth experience. One of the most powerful concepts she introduced was rhythm and ritual: understanding that I would need different comfort measures during contractions versus between them, and preparing my partner to support those switches. She also helped me understand that what works for 1 hour of labor might not work the next, and that this constant evolution would be completely normal.
I ended up in three days of prodromal labor, so expecting to switch things up so often was crucial to my partner and I’s communication and resilience. There were so many moments when something comforting suddenly wasn’t helpful anymore. I was so grateful Bri had prepared us for it. I became increasingly non-verbal nearing the final 12 hours of labor, but because my partner and I had already discussed everything Bri recommended ahead of time, he knew what to expect without me having to explain my needs mid-contraction.
Bri also taught me to fall back on comfort measures that were already familiar to me rather than introducing new things during labor. This simple reframing of my existing resources helped me build a toolkit that actually served me.
As a first-time mother, Bri’s coaching helped me reduce my fear around the uncertainty of birth. When I was in labor, I kept thinking, “Oh, this is what Bri was talking about.” I felt prepared and empowered.
I would highly recommend Bri’s coaching for anyone feeling fear or anxiety about birth, or eager to better visualize how they can support themselves through this transformational experience.
