We worked with Julie as our doula for a home birth in Brooklyn for our first child. We changed to a home birth late in pregnancy which meant changing providers and feel incredibly fortunate that we found Julie in time.
We chose her because of her experience with home births and her emphasis on creating a peaceful environment with minimal interventions. From our very first meeting, the difference between Julie and our previous doula was remarkable. She is warm, grounded, and deeply genuine. She is also incredibly knowledgeable, with a thorough process that prepared us for pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. She consistently shared helpful resources, brought homemade teas and remedies, and even baked us a delicious pumpkin bread after our baby was born—such a sweet and personal touch.
Throughout early labor, she checked in regularly by phone and text, offering suggestions for movement and positioning that helped ease intense back labor. When labor progressed she was the first to arrive and an instantly calming presence. Birth is such an intimate experience—especially at home—and she helped us feel completely safe and supported. She worked alongside my partner, helping prepare the space, guiding my breathing and movement, offering massage, and communicating with the midwives.
During three long hours of pushing in the tub, she remained a source of encouragement for both me and my partner. After our baby arrived, she stayed late into the night to support breastfeeding, make postpartum tea, and hold my hand through suturing. Postpartum, she continued to check in, offering resources, reassurance, and emotional support whenever needed.
Julie is truly one of the kindest, most compassionate people we’ve met. She is absolutely meant to do this work—it’s clearly her calling. We are so grateful she was by our side for such a life-changing experience.
