I write this review to praise Patti and this concept of a birthing Doula. I have been a nurse for over 36 years. I have spent most of my career in maternal health departments. I did not know the value a Doula could offer. When my only daughter announced to me, she hired a Doula I admit I was taking a back. I said, “what will she do that your Labor And Delivery nurse will not?” She explained to me that she will receive help prior to the birth experience, during and postpartum. I was so curious how all this would be. Talk about pleasantly surprised as I heard all the instruction, Massage, questions answered, and overall support as her birth plan was made. This truly decreased my daughter‘s anxiety about going into labor. On the delivery day once at the hospital, Patti arrived promptly as promised. I knew I could be in the waiting room as I was just a phone call away if needed. Patti was such a wealth of knowledge once in the labor room. She helped my daughter to know all she was feeling, explain the contractions, prepared her for all that would be happening. Once I saw all this in action, I knew my daughter was in good capable hands. After my daughter received her epidural and could relax and release into her labor, I was asked into the labor room. (Personally so thankful) I watched as Patti guided my daughter and my soninlaw in their birthing roles. As the grandmother to be I could just enjoy the beautiful miracle of a life brought into this world. The mood in the room with Hospital Staff – Patti – family was so cohesive! I truly cannot think Patti enough for all she did on that miracle day. But then I was able to be at the postpartum visit day. Patti came and spent time checking on Mom and baby. Massages were given to baby and mom. Then more instructions on breast-feeding positions with proper assistance aids. Massage instructions were given to the three of us. Thanks Patti for all you did for us!
