Julie was my doula for my third baby and I can't say enough good things about her. My first 2 births both had complications so I had a lot of anxiety going into my 3rd pregnancy. Julie made such a positive difference in both my pregnancy and delivery. She was always available if I had a concern and her weekly check in texts helped me feel connected her.
The birth of my 3rd baby was everything I wanted it to be and I owe so much of that to Julie. When I was ready to go to the birth center she was waiting for us there and it was a huge sense of relief to see her, especially since I didn't know the on call midwife. Julie was so calming and encouraging during my labor. She transformed the room into a cozy space with lights and music and other small touches. It all made such a difference and really helped with my nerves!
Julie was the perfect labor support. She knew when to stand back and let my husband support me and knew when to step in and help. She made a lot of small suggestions about positioning that were incredibly helpful and did hands on counter pressure and massage. She advocated for me with the midwife when I didn't want a cervical check and helped me feel confident about my decision. Labor is such a vulnerable and emotional time and I can't overstate how big of a relief it was to have Julie there and knowing that she had my back. She really understood what was important to me and helped make sure everyone respected my wishes.
When the baby was born Julie stayed for the perfect amount of time. She helped me get something to eat and quietly packed up for us and made sure I was good before leaving. And then emailed me a timeline of my labor which was so helpful!
I can't say enough good things about Julie and I am forever grateful to her for helping me have the birth of my dreams.
