Stephanie was the perfect addition to our son's birth! After a traumatic birth two years prior, we wanted to have a doula with us to help us have a different experience this time around. Although we had taken the classes and experienced both before, we also knew how easy it is to forget all those relaxing movements and pain management techniques in the thick of labor. From the initial consult and our prenatal meeting Stephanie was able to help me change my thinking of our planned induction and reframe things like pitocin and the epidural as tools to help safely deliver rather than interventions to be scared of. Those initial conversations, and reassuring texts along the way, allowed me to go into this birth motivated with a positive attitude that things would go exactly as I hoped instead of fearing another traumatic delivery. Her presence in the delivery room was just what we needed to help keep me relaxed and focused. She worked seamlessly with my nurse and midwife to help make sure I kept changing positions to keep progressing and had what I needed to stay comfortable as things got more difficult. She was amazing as another set of hands for me and our daughter that was so excited to see her brother be born. Having Stephanie allowed my partner and I to feel like no one ever had to be alone in the flurry of activity after our son was born. You can tell Stephanie truly cares about her families and wants to be a positive light in such a magical moment. I will always treasure having Stephanie with us for our birth.
