My partner and I decided to hire a birth doula for many reasons: we realized midwives are our clinical and medical support, and we wanted the physical and emotional support provided by a doula at our birth – and leading up to it.
They (Rebekah and Amber) were very helpful! My birth experience in general was thankfully smooth, and I greatly appreciated their presence, their experience, and their support during and after labor! Absolutely recommend them.
I am a Registered Dietitian so luckily a lot of the supplements, food, exercise, homeopathic recommendation I knew a lot about. But its always good to have more eyes/ people in your corner.
I had Amber at the start of my labor; she was amazing. She was gentle and kind when I needed it. I had a lot of questions and text due to it being my first baby. She came in home to support me more. We live a hour from the birth center so I wanted more support.
I had Rebekah at the end of my labor; which was needed. She really pushed me to do different position which I didn't want to do but needed at the time. It helped me get this big baby here and healthy. She also went out of her way to come with me to the hospital when I was transferred for tearing. She did my placenta encapsulation. Came in home to visit, drop off items, checked in via text messages. WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND.
I feel like Amber and Rebekah were a good balance for me: She was encouraging, super hands on and helpful, and was also stern – all at the right times (“stern” has a negative connotation associated with it, but I mean this in the most positive way possible. I was having a really hard time pushing my son out at the end (and might of not known how to push properly) and it took Rebekah to sternly tell me that I can do it, that I was doing it, and what were my other options.
I will use them in the future for baby number 2 or/and 3. Cant wait.
