Due to the high risk nature of my pregnancy I knew I wanted to work with a doula to help provide some perspective and support for my hospital birth. After connecting with many other doulas in my search, I knew Julie was the right fit for us. She was so lovely on our initial chat and extremely responsive to emails and texts. We did two sessions with her prior to labor, where she provided extremely helpful information about what the labor and delivery process could look like and walked us through all the different options and choices we may have to make. Despite our prep work, nothing could have prepared me for the labor I had and how instrumental Julie was to our experience. My partner and I say all the time, we literally would have not made it through the nearly 48 hour labor without Julie's professionalism, calm demeanor, and overall presence in the room. She quite literally saved us. From understanding what we both needed throughout the labor, to speaking to hospital staff about position changes and alternative approaches, to continually providing support and encouragement throughout, Julie's ability to adjust in real time to a very fluid situation was remarkable. We feel so deeply honored to have been able to have Julie as part of our birth experience. Even though we are just a small part of Julie's story's, they are a massive piece of ours and one that we will be forever grateful for. Julie's ability to share such an intimate experience with a person/family is a true and rare gift, one that not many people have. We love doula Julie and wish she could be around all the time!! Any family would be lucky to have Julie as part of their birth experience.
