Alysa was hands down the best birth support person one could ever wish for! She exudes warmth and intelligence, is kind and friendly, and is uniquely attentive to her clients' values and needs in a supportive, completely non-judgemental way. She has an array of tools—I was especially impressed with her physiological birth support skills (while also knowing she would be as supportive if birth had require more interventions!), and her excellent capacity to communicate with the healthcare team as an advocate for me, but in a way that keeps up a great collaborative rapor with hospital staff. We worked with Alysa for a second birth, so came into this knowing some of the trigger points and needs that had emerged during the first birth experience. While both births ended up being quite similar, as far as births go, the experience of working with Alysa made such a huge difference, and I wish I had her on my team the first time too! It was so awesome and empowering to have such a capable, smart, experienced, and committed birth doula and advocate work with me for months: I truly felt heard, supported, and empowered—even in the thick of birth, and the somewhat frantic aftermath. Alysa stayed with us until we told her that we were ready to be alone, and made sure all our immediate needs were met as she left. The post birth follow-up was also very thorough and caring—Alysa has a lot of tools and skills and feels like a person you can go to with any kind of ask for help, and she would find a way to support you. I have reccommended Alysa to any birthing person and friend who has asked me for doula recs ever since. A few months have passed and the birth experience memories remain so positive, mostly thanks to the fundamental role Alysa played as a support person during all phases of this process.
