Nicole was my birth doula for my second baby and I cannot recommend her enough! Her knowledge, experience with births, and support made a world of a difference compared to my first birth (without a doula). She is incredibly friendly, warm, non-judgmental, and easy to feel comfortable with. I appreciated her balanced approach, that she didn't push her own preferences, and she did an excellent job of working collaboratively with me and the medical staff.
Nicole’s support began in pregnancy, when she helped me with drafting a birth plan, birth and postpartum prep, and understanding what I could expect in different scenarios. She provided guides, tools, and exercises that were helpful in my birth prep. She met with my husband & I to get to know us, our preferences, fears, and what I wanted to see differently compared to my first birth. She put me at ease heading into my second birth, knowing that she would be looking out for me.
During labor, she guided me from the start (including a FaceTime during the “is this labor?” moment), as labor picked up (e.g., recommended rest, fuel, movements), and when heading to the hospital. Her reassurance, calm, and guidance was so appreciated during this time, when it’s otherwise easy to panic or get overwhelmed! She arrived at the hospital the same time as us and physically supported me, helped with position changes, guided my breathing, and advocated for my preferences. After, she helped us with breastfeeding, validated me, offered words of comfort, and stayed until we were settled.
Postpartum, she continued to check in and meet with me. She went above and beyond by connecting me with resources and helped me process my delivery experiences (even my first birth!)
Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better doula. I felt supported end-to-end and greatly appreciated the difference she made for us, making for a positive birth experience.
