I met Joyce in my search for a night-time support doula for my baby. Joyce spent the nights with my baby, and I was able to sleep with peace of mind (as much as one can sleep between pumping/nurning breaks with a newborn). She was quite the baby whiperer, my baby was so calm in her presence. She was careful and maternal, not only towards my baby, but also towards me. I felt cared for, and supported, and she gave me strength in ways I didn't even know I needed. She came into our lives as a blessing, to this day she is my support and strength when I feel overwhelmed. She shared stories with me from her life in Kenya, her incredible experience from many walks of life, and her wisdom. She is one of the most compassionate and intelligent people I've known, and I am fortunate to have met her, my baby is lucky to have been in her care. This was first baby, I was overwhelmed with emotions and anxiety. Joyce grounded me, gave me strength and confidence when I doubted myself, helped me know everything was going to be ok. In terms of work, Joyce spent the nights (and occasionally days) with my baby, she changed her, fed her, and washed baby bottles and pump parts. She was flexible with time and incredibly easy to work with and open up to. She is very experienced, and I felt comfortable and confident to leave my only child in her care. The good night sleep I was able to get made all the difference in my strength, happiness, and well-being during the day.
