Postpartum is not easy, and that is not something you can possibly fully grasp until you experience it. After a early and traumatic birth experience and being a FTM I needed all the support I could get after my lil boy arrived. I needed support in a very specific way that my family and friends could not give me, and Nikki showed up for me during a time where I felt very lost in the fabric of motherhood. Meeting yourself again after birth is a wild experience because while you have the same name you are different physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Nikki road this roller coaster with me and it truly made the transition into motherhood something I think of fondly.
Nikki's presence during labor was invaluable and I couldn't imagine going through early postpartum without her. I was wholly unprepared for how I would feel. I felt like a brand new baby too! Nikki transitioned from my doula to my postpartum doula. I struggle with mental illness and postpartum could have been a very scary/dangerous time for me. Nikki was a constant light in my world during this very sacred yet scary time. She is a cornerstone to my evolution into a mama.
