Laurie was a fantastic doula for our family! As a first-time mom, I had many questions and fears about birth, and Laurie addressed each one with patience and expertise. She asked insightful questions that helped us understand our birth preferences and prepare for multiple possible scenarios. She also took the time to learn about my support team, identifying strengths, gaps, and any potential challenges that might arise during labor.
When I finally went into labor, I worked with both Laurie and her backup doula, Marnie. Marnie provided the nurturing presence and affirmation I needed to get through early labor, and the transition to Laurie was seamless. When the doctors sent me home to continue laboring, Laurie came with me and helped make me comfortable in bed. She took my middle-of-the-night phone call to talk through symptoms I was concerned about and supported me calmly and confidently the next morning when I was in intense pain.
After the birth, Laurie continued to check in via text and phone over the following weeks. She offered helpful information and reassurance when we had to return to the hospital for our son to receive treatment for jaundice. The cherry on top was the amazing massage she gave me during her postpartum visit. We would be lucky to work with Laurie again if we have more children!
