I had the pleasure of having Tameka by my side for two of my births, and I truly can’t imagine those experiences without her.
My first birth was my first everything, so her support was very much needed. I don’t remember this myself, but apparently I was a little aggressive ??, at one point I had a tight grip very close to her neck. Despite that, she stayed calm, positive, and completely focused on me, which was exactly what I needed as a first-time mom.
I loved how knowledgeable she was about the birthing process, hospital policies, placenta options, and all the little details I didn’t even know to ask about. Having her there took so much mental load off me.
My most recent birth was more stressful. My blood pressure was running high, and while I didn’t want an induction, Tameka did an amazing job balancing respect for my wants while also educating me on the risks and reminding me to consider the doctors’ recommendations, without ever making me feel unheard or pressured. Which can be difficult to do.
She also helped document important details during the birth, times, things the doctor said, baby’s weight, etc. With this being my fourth child and concerns around my health and baby’s safety, I appreciated her capturing those moments when I couldn’t.
She was never squeamish, jumped right in when needed (yes, poop and all ??), and most importantly, she loudly advocated for me. Birth can feel overwhelming and baby-focused (even Mom's focus is on baby), so having someone consistently focused on me and my needs was incredibly refreshing.
Because this pregnancy was scarier health-wise, her regular check-ins, encouragement, and even attending appointments with me for extra support meant everything. Hands down, I would recommend Tameka to any mom seeking pregnancy, birth, or postpartum support.
