Before meeting Britney, we weren't sure if we wanted a doula. Oh my--we are so glad we hired Britney! She was very thorough and honest. There are several pre birth appointments and even one after to unpack the experience. She helped prep us so we felt confident in knowing what labor would be like and the steps to even take prior to going to the hospital. Once there, she was the perfect advocate during a stressful time. She had the perfect balance of letting us have moments together while making sure we were taken care of. She even helped position me and give the nurses ideas/assistance. At various key points, there were times when she helped slow down the process so we would know the WHY behind any test/blood work/intervention and not feel pressured before we were ready. Many friends I've had that haven't had a doula had a traumatic birth experience. With Britney, I had the experience I wanted and my "plan" was followed as much as possible.
