I knew for a long time that I wanted a doula for labor but I had no idea how helpful one could be in the preparation for labor until I connected with Daria! Daria met with my husband and I several times before birth and provided us with tons of information. She covered absolutely everything that could come up in labor and helped me build my birth plan. I especially appreciated when she came over and went over different pain management techniques for labor with us and showed us different movements to help with moving labor. along. It was so nice to have someone that I knew I could go to for *all* aspects of my pregnancy and was there just for me.
My only regret is that I waited as long as I did to ask Daria to join us at the hospital! I waited until the pain was getting to be too much but looking back I wish I’d had her there even longer! After she left after my birth, several members of the hospital staff that were present for my labor were saying how great she was! My nurse even asked me where I found her so that they could mention her name to other patients when they ask for recommendations!
She also checked in with me a few times in the days after the birth, and even offered additional resources for me when I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia. Then once we were settled at home, she offered a visit to wrap everything up. She even offered to help us with baby care or doing the dishes! We chose to just do a facetime call and it was so nice to debrief with someone on how the birth went and how I was feeling. If we have another child, I would absolutely hire Daria again!
