When it was 'show time' she arrived with the Mary Poppins of all bags and jumped right in and got to work. Within moments a load of tension was lifted, tension I didn't know I had built up the previous days. She provided support to my husband with guidance on how he could be more hands on while I allowed myself to completely surrender and be vulnerable in her presence. I was hopeful for a homebirth and unfortunately circumstances had another story drafted for us. With Leanne by our side, the 'compromises' didn't seem so daunting. We were reminded with a huge heart that we would be meeting our baby soon. She was our birth cheerleader in the best way, unshakable at every crossroad. I felt cared for, like birth royalty .... has anyone else made sure your lips weren't chapped in between contractions (because she knew this was important to me) ... I didn't think so!
In the days since welcoming our daughter we haven't stopped bragging about our Doula to any visitor. I joked my whole pregnancy that the Doula was support for my husband, in reality I can't even imagine going through that journey without her by my side! In the future, 1000 out of 1000 times we will recommend (with gumption and in high volume) a doula, aka Leanne, to anyone who shares with us that they are expecting.
Eternaly grateful. Can't wait to do that again!
