My hubby and I love Adele. She is knowledgeable, passionate, caring, empathic, funny, and down to earth. I wanted a doula who would be a fierce advocate for us in a hospital setting (not our first choice for a birthing space) and Adele was just right for the job!
Adele is a real-life Mary Poppins and literally has everything you could ever need during labour and post-partum. She had so many tricks up her sleeve to ease labour. She gave me massages throughout and her hip squeezes were a game changer! It was evident in the way the nurses stepped aside and let Adele take the lead that she knew her stuff. She had the aura of a midwife and I 100% credit her for helping me have a natural birth.
Adele also knew that my I was nervous about breastfeeding and went above and beyond to support me in my breastfeeding journey. She made countless visits to our home in the early days to help us navigate and cope with triple feeding. Thanks to Adele, our baby is the first in two maternal generations to be breastfed!
We also took Adele’s birth class and loved it. We even brought her birth book to the hospital and found ourselves referring to it many times in the early post-partum days.
To the midwifery school admissions panel – for goodness sake give this woman a spot in your program ASAP. There is no one in this province who is better suited for the job.
PS: Adele, you were our rock through some tough times. We can’t wait to tell our baby girl all about you when she grows up. If the universe blesses us with another pregnancy, we hope you will do us the honour of being our doula again (or fingers crossed, our midwife!!!). You really were born to do this work <3
