Testimonial for The Dedicated Doula Team- Doula + Photo + CBE ++
I am so lucky that I was able to work with the dedicated doula team for the birth of my first child. I approached their team relatively late in my pregnancy after making the last mintue decision that we wanted to work wtih a doula. They reached out very quickly to understand my situation, and were able to fit me into their busy schedule. After confirming our timeline, I met my doula team-- Suzanne and Cari, with the both of them making time to come visit us at our house to get to know us, and figure out what support we needed. This system makes sure that even if emeregency strikes at my primary doula (Suzanne) is unable to attend the birth, the backup (Cari) is not a stranger, and I would feel just as comfortable. I've heard horror stories from friends where other teams did not have a system like this in place, and either had no one show up to the birth, or a complete stranger who was more harm than help!
Not the case with this team-- both Suzanne and Cari were incredibly warm, supportive, kind, and full of love and wonderful advice. They gave me complete support leading up to my birth (including a scare where we thought my baby was breech-- they provided daily check-ins, advice, exercises, and methods that helped turn my baby back into the right position) and 24/7 support the day of my daughter's birth. Cari was amazing during my labor, she was gentle but firm, helped me acheive the goals that we talked about leading to the birth, and advocated for me with the hospital staff when she noticed some funky things (like a misplaced IV that made my hand blow up like a balloon). She also took amazing photos that I treasure.
They also gave me support after the birth, when I was in the thick of the baby blues and having the hardest time fo my life. They came with a hug, doner breast milk. and support to figure out how to get through-- and I will remember that kindess and support until the day I die.
