When I was pregnant, I interviewed a number of doulas and it was really important to me to find someone evidence-based and knowledgeable. Jessie is incredibly experienced and supportive and we couldn't have had a better experience!
I started looking for a doula relatively late in the process—Jessie came over for a visit and then a little over a week later I was in labor. A few things that really impressed me: during our first meeting, Jessie gave a very thorough overview of labor and the science of why certain things were effective; taught my husband comfort measures such as how to hold me during contractions to relieve tension; and was very supportive during the birth and took some great photos. She genuinely loves talking about what happens during birth and sharing information, which was great and made me feel much more relaxed going into the whole process.
After the epidural kicked in, I was incredibly anxious while I was waiting to push, and Jessie was very helpful in calming my nerves and explaining what was going on. She showed us the little printout of the heart rates and explained what was happening and it made me feel a lot better about the whole process. She also stayed in touch after the birth and provided additional resources. Definitely highly recommend Jessie as a knowledgeable and experienced doula!
