I found Rebecca early in my pregnancy, and even though I didn’t yet know if we would 'click,' I chose her because of her clear experience, confidence, and skill. Very quickly, she became someone I trusted. I knew she could guide me through this new and unknown experience, like a knowledgeable guide up Mount Everest, while also offering so much care and tenderness. Throughout pregnancy, labor, and into postpartum, I was heard and encouraged. She helped me shape my birth plan, work through breastfeeding challenges, and stayed calm, grounded, and steady in my corner during labor. Her presence and guidance even made the experience more positive for my husband. Rebecca expanded my understanding of what a doula can be; both a capable guide and a deeply kind presence. Somehow, she seems to effortlessly balance professionalism and genuine connection. She put obvious effort to lay her bias aside in supporting the unending choices that need to be made when becoming a mother. Rebecca played an essential role in making my first birth memorable, and truly magical. My only regret is not getting a celebratory photo with her on the big day!
