I cannot recommend Carolyn enough. Carolyn attended both of my births (in 2023 and 2025). What I remember the most is her calming, grounding presence. Her reassurance made my experience manageable and empowering. My first birth was much faster than expected. I got to the hospital and very soon after, started pushing. My mind and body were in shock. When Carolyn entered the room, she held my hands and said some encouraging words (can’t remember exactly what) but I remember feeling relief and like fresh air had entered the room. During my second, she was just as supportive and essential. Carolyn helped me trust my body throughout the birth, relax through contractions, and focus in the hard parts.
Carolyn is experienced, knowledgeable, intuitive, and lighthearted! She knows when to offer guidance and when to provide quiet support. She worked seamlessly with the midwife and hospital staff to support my unmedicated births, answered questions as they arose, helped my husband know how to support me, and offered helpful position recommendations (with hands-on assistance).
I also appreciated that District Doulas is a small group practice. Knowing there was built-in coverage brought peace of mind, while still allowing me to get to know all three doulas through classes and prenatal check-ins. The classes and prenatal meetings made me feel prepared and confident about my birth preferences and alternatives. Carolyn also stayed after birth to help establish breastfeeding, reminded us what to expect in the first hours and days, and continued checking in postpartum with practical and emotional support. Having Carolyn and District Doulas for both of my births was truly invaluable.
