I have been meaning to leave this review for a long time but new baby life is busy! ?? I don’t have enough words to say about Emilee. For starters, I didn’t know what a doula even really was but I knew I was pregnant and wanted support from someone who had done this before. After a search on doulamatch, I found EmpowerHer and was connected with Emilee on a zoom call in a few days and IMMEDIATELY felt calmer knowing I could have her helping me with labor. She answered literally all of my absolutely insane ridiculous anxious questions any time I reached out, came to our house to help prep us for labor- ours was a little different than expected due to elevated bp, and gave so many great after care tips I wouldn't have known about. We ended up having a scheduled c section at 37 weeks, and Emilee was able to join me and my husband in the OR. I truly truly cannot express how much her calming presence helped when my baby was being checked for breathing issues while still in the OR.. she was held my hand while my husband was with our baby getting checked over.
If you are on the fence about hiring a doula, just do it. You will not regret it. I assumed a doula was going to push me to do a home birth in a pool or something and while she does offer that support, she does a lot of hospital births. Which was beyond comforting having someone there with us who knew how to navigate the process, the paperwork, all the ins and outs because we had no idea! Emilee is an incredible doula and I had the most beautiful life altering experience because of her.
