Hiring Haven as my birth doula was the best decision I could have made for my birth experience. I felt completely overwhelmed by how much information there was to learn just to feel a sense of control, but having Haven by my side gave me the confidence I needed going into one of the hardest things a woman can do. From the very beginning it was clear how deeply she cared about us and how strongly she advocated for our needs. Each prenatal session felt supportive and intentional, and she provided resources for my partner and me to work through on our own time, which made everything far more digestible and comfortable. I ultimately needed to be induced because of preeclampsia, but even before that, Haven was there for me. When I started to worry something was wrong, I called her and she helped me talk everything through, which is what led us to go to the hospital. Later on, she came to the hospital and stayed by my side when I needed her most. She kept me company and helped keep things light when my husband needed rest, supported us through the hard decisions we had to make, and helped me feel less alone during such an overwhelming time. My birth didn’t go anything like we had planned, but she supported me emotionally through all of it and helped me feel at peace with the way things turned out. I felt truly empowered during my birth and was able to make informed choices in scenarios I know I wouldn’t have been able to without her. We laughed, we cried, and we shared such a beautiful experience. I am endlessly thankful for Haven and feel very blessed to have her there for the beginning of my family's story.
