When we booked Junko as a postpartum doula, we had no idea what a positive impact that would make on our lives and our child's life. It was quite possibly the best decision we made when planning out our postpartum/newborn journey. Junko is truly a doula 'fairy'- she makes everything she does seem easy and effortless, but make no mistake, she does a LOT! From cooking wonderful meals and snacks, providing encouragement and support both practical and emotional, and teaching us everything and anything we wanted to know about caring for our newborn, she has been a Godsend. Junko never made me feel like I was hosting a guest when she came over- she kept herself busy, listened and lended advice when warranted, but she was always a calm, peaceful presence. If Junko ever didn't have an answer for something, she would research it and et back to us, and/or provide us with the right resources. Saying goodbye to Junko was difficult becuase we did not want our time with her to end, but we hope to use her again in the future. If you are deciding the best use of funds/programs like Carrot, I cannot recommend Junko enough. We had friends who booked a night nurse instead of a daytime doula like Junko and later regretted it, ultimately leading them to seek out a doula. If you are on the fence about booking Junko for your postpartum journey, do it. You won't regret it.
