Kristin was essential to my experience in having a redemptive and successful unmedicated VBAC. After having an emergency cesarean under general anesthesia with my first, I made the decision to try for a vbac and knew that I would need a supportive doula. I first met with Kristen over FaceTime and from that very first call I could feel the caring and peace she radiates. She was so supportive of my decision to try for a vbac and sent me lots of resources so that I could make the best decisions possible for my situation. My husband and I had two prenatal appointments with Kristen where we discussed birth preferences, stages of labor, and pain management techniques. Kristen answered all our questions in a way that left us feeling so empowered. On the day I went into labor she was with us through every step of the way. She advocated for me when my provider wanted to break my water earlier than I felt comfortable doing and guided me through various techniques to try to help me progress with my labor naturally when I stalled out. She helped me talk through my feelings and come to decisions I felt positive about. As I entered the active labor stage, Kristen kept me grounded through breathing techniques and movements. This allowed me to not panic with the intense surges but instead relax into them and work with my body. Kristen helped my husband know how best to support me as well with positions that made the contractions more manageable and helped us feel connected. Kristen took wonderful photos and videos to help us remember this experience as our sweet baby boy made his way into the world. She even got us dinner after being at the hospital with us for 18 hours. She checked in with me during the tricky postpartum stage and met with me again to talk through our birth experience and offer support. I cannot recommend Kristen highly enough for anyone seeking an outstanding doula for their birth!
