We found Katie when searching for Doulas in the Kelowna are when we were pregnant with our first. After reading the reviews and browsing her website and Instagram, I reached out to Katie to see if things would be a good fit.
Right from day one, Katie was incredibly insightful and supportive. Her experience and calm demeanor made me feel like we had been friends before meeting. She came to visit us multiple times before my due date, and helped us build a birth plan. She also provided endless resources and was available throughout my pregnancy for questions, concerns, etc
Once my labour started, Katie's experience as a Doula really showed. She was at the hospital with us as soon as we arrived (although she offered to come to our house prior to the hospital to help with early labour.) Her support through my labour made all of the difference, and because of her guidance with breathing and massage techniques, I was able to have a swift, uncomplicated labour with only laughing gas to help with pain. She also helped my partner support me and guided him on the best ways to help me through the labour process. Katie also somehow found small windows in between massages and communicating with the nursing staff to take photos of us during labour and delivery that I will cherish forever.
Katie is an outstanding Doula, and I would recommend her to anyone that was interested in finding a support person for their pregnancy and birth. She made what was the most terrifying and challenging experience of my life a positive one that left me feeling strong and proud of what I had accomplished. I could not recommend Katie's services enough, and we are so grateful to her for everything she did for us and our healthy little baby girl.
