In early labor, she arrived at our home with many helpful props and tools that gave me options for managing the pain. Because Alex was there with us, we felt comfortable staying home longer rather than rushing to the hospital. Once we arrived, she moved through the space with such ease and familiarity, which was grounding. The thoughtful touches she brought—snacks when we needed energy and candles that softened the clinical delivery room—created a warm, supportive atmosphere. Even after I got an epidural, Alex remained a grounding figure when it came time to push as I used the breathing techniques she taught me during early labor.
Alex's overnight visits in those early newborn days were equally invaluable. She was so tender and natural with our daughter, and she taught us helpful little tricks for diaper changes and other newborn care essentials that we still use. We also appreciated how clean and considerate she was in our home, and how seamlessly she adapted to whatever our baby's schedule threw at us.
