My husband and I hired Kayla as our doula for the births of both of our children, and she was an incredible support each time.
In 2023, I went into labor early, and Kayla joined us at the hospital, guiding us through positions and comfort measures as my labor progressed. Her reminders about effacement and station were crucial for staying positive. When I needed medication to continue working toward a vaginal birth, she helped me process my feelings, explore options, and ease my anxiety, allowing me to move forward confidently. Due to the length of my labor, we also worked with her backup doula, Dani, who was wonderful. Kayla returned before the final stages and was a calming presence during transition and pushing. Her encouragement and expertise were critical to the successful birth of our son. Even the hospital nurses commented on how amazing she was and noted learning new techniques from her.
After birth, I struggled with breastfeeding, and Kayla’s herbal and emotional support were invaluable. She provided grounding, encouragement, teas, tinctures, and reframing that helped me cope. A healing ceremony with her gave me closure and helped me reconnect with myself in my new role as a mother.
We didn’t hesitate to hire Kayla again for the birth of our second child in 2025. She provided guidance for a pregnancy complication and shared exercises and herbal remedies to ease third-trimester discomfort. During labor, she suggested positions, breathing, and sounds to help me progress. Her grounding reminders and encouragement helped me achieve the unmedicated birth I’d hoped for. When medical complications arose after delivery, Kayla’s reassurance helped me stay confident. Her postpartum support was invaluable during my recovery, and I’m looking forward to another closing ceremony.
