Saphren was an incredible guide and source of knowledge through my pregnancy and an absolute hero on the day of our daughter’s birth. It was our first baby so we were total newbies to the whole thing. Saphren provided tons of great resources to help us make informed decisions throughout pregnancy. I never felt like she was pressuring us or had a hidden agenda, she genuinely wanted us to do what was best for our family. I loved that she helped us hone in on what we hoped for our birthing experience while still discussing and making contingency plans. I had a pretty intense fear of giving birth, working with her put me at ease and made my pregnancy so much more enjoyable.
The day of birth was when she really shined. Her extensive experience as a doula showed, she was an incredible grounding presence and seemed to know exactly when to make gentle suggestions for changing positions, doing counter pressure, etc. Childbirth is so unlike anything else and we got so so so much comfort by continually asking Saphren if what was happening was normal (turns out it all was!). My contractions didn’t follow the 3-2-1 guidelines but she could tell by the noises I was making and my movements that I was getting close to pushing and she called the midwives in time for them to get there. Also, she totally cleaned up the apartment post birth and made us a little snack tray so that we could focus on snuggling our new baby in bed, so incredible!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Saphren enough. She’s a true pro and we were so lucky to have her by our side through this life changing experience ??
